Snarky Cats Halloween - 5 card ideas using distress inks & markers
Now I have had these stamps for quite a while and think I have only used them a couple of times. It was the sentiments that persuaded me they needed a home in my craft area.
After having a wonderful crafty chat with Mandy Taylor, she said that the stamp set was forming part of her Halloween Show on HobbyMaker. I knew that I had to make some samples and revisit all those sentiments ...
People think I'm shy ...
I created an inky background using twisted citron, peeled paint, villainous potion & wilted violet. I added a little stencil detail with Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Gears (THS052) using peeled paint. Next I spritzed water through Tim Holtz stencil Gradient Dot (THS118) & blotted excess away.
The images were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne & Green Oasis, coloured with distress markers. I used 3D foam pads to lift the additional images & sentiment.
If I play dead ...
Another inky background with distress inks as they are just perfect to set off the stamped images. This time I have used mustard seed, spiced marmalade, peeled paint, pumice stone & black soot. I also used the same Tim Holtz layering stencil Gears (THS052) and added the gears detail in random places.
To add depth to the background, I have stamped one of the sentiments, in matching ink colours. Again images stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne & coloured with distress markers.
I know the voices aren't real ...
The background for this stamp is a little less Halloween. A quick inky background using picked raspberry & mustard seed and then a layer of stenciling: Tim Holtz layering stencils Shifter Burst (THS120) & Falling Stars (THS115). I wanted the focus this time to be on the images & sentiment.
The cat has been stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne, Acorn & Tulip Red. All the images were then cut out and layered on top of each other with the front image raised using 3D foam.
It's behind me. Isn't it?
Again another blended inky background using mustard seed, peeled paint & black soot. I then splashed the background with some water and blotted. Once it was dry, I added some extra stamping plus stenciling - Time Holtz layering stencil Falling Stars (THS115)
The images have been stamped in Versafine Clair Acorn & Glamourous coloured with distress markers.
I meant to behave, but ...
This time I decided to make a tag using up old backgrounds I had previously made. To make them tie in together, I spritzed them with Tim Holtz Mica Stains: Burning Ember & Iron Gate. A little Ideology washi tape was added too.
The images have been stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne & coloured with distress markers.
All my cards & tag are in the post to Mandy ready for her HobbyMaker shows on 29th September at 6am,7am & 4pm. If you can, tune in and see Mandy work her Halloween magic or watch the shows back on their rewind service. I know she has some really cool Personal Impressions Sweet Dixie Halloween die sets too which work perfectly with the Snarky Cats.
What kind of crafts do you make for Halloween? I love making for this occasion as it is a real departure from the "norm" and I seem to use different colours than I always seem to grab.
Take care of yourselves & happy crafting,
Lou
