Lost Shadow NEW Tim Holtz distress colour - mixing with Lumberjack Plaid
I was super excited to receive the newest distress colour "LOST SHADOW" to demo on Create & Craft on launch day! Obviously everything was secret squirrel and I only had 36 hours to "play" with it before the show. The guys & girls at Personal Impressions pulled out all the stops to make sure it was in their warehouse ready for immediate dispatch after Tim Holtz officially launched the colour.
Photo above shows some of the swatches I created and a few projects too. I'm sharing today a project I made using the NEW Lost Shadow with Lumberjack Plaid

Swatches
Due to the time I had, I created quick swatches using Lost Shadow distress and oxide inks pads. I made a quick background using a blending brush and then added extra details with stencils and stamps.
I really wanted to see how the colour worked against a stronger colour from the distress line. I grabbed Lumberjack Plaid and created a swatch. To say I was in love is an understatement. Lost Shadow let the Lumberjack Plaid stay bright but also toned it down too - such a cool effect.
Quick note - I wasn't going for perfect blending here, just laying down colour and layers.
Just knew then what I wanted to do with the two colours ...

No journey is too great ...
I really wanted to see how the Lost Shadow colour worked on Distress Texture paste. I added some to my tag using Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Gears stencil. I couldn't wait for it to dry so forced it dry with my heat tool (lol). Next using Lost Shadow on a blending brush, I coloured the texture paste. it looked so cool.
That was it, I was off! I then grabbed another stencil and stenciled over the texture paste, first layer of Lost Shadow and some other areas on my tag. Next I placed some Lumberjack Plaid on my blending mat, added a little water and then "smooched" it on my layers, drying in between. What was fab for me was how some of the Lumberjack Plaid stayed bright & vibrant but other parts now had a smokey feel.
At this point, I did need to leave my tag to dry dry and that was my cue to do some stamping. Using the field notes, I stamped some images in Lost Shadow distress ink. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see if I then embossed them with Lost Shadow embossing glaze, how they would turn out. They took on a "lost" look without being totally "lost" - I hope that makes sense.
The butterflies I stamped and added colour using Lumberjack Plaid & Lost Shadow, with a water brush. I then embossed them with Lost Shadow embossing glaze. I thought it might dull them down a little but oh no! Before adding all my stamped elements to my tag, I added some background stamping.
I had a real blast creating with the new colour and also using it with some of my older Tim Holtz products too. Think it's important with use new items with older ones too.

I have other colour swatches and projects to share but also now have an ever growing "must try list". Isn't it wonderful when craft excites you and fires off all those neurons in our brains.
Until next time. Take care,
Lou
