Unleashing my inner artist with "Just for Me" art journaling

When I first started art journaling, I felt intimidated. I thought I had to be a good artist to create something beautiful. I soon realized that art journaling is not about perfection, it's about expressing yourself honestly and authentically.

My "Just for Me" art journal is a place where I can let go of all expectations and simply create. I use my art journal to experiment with different techniques, and to simply have fun.

Home is not where you live but where they understand you

This months "Just for Me" page are in my 8" x 8" journal for no other reason than I fancied a change! I came across an old prep bag full of bits from Ciao Bella Paper London's Calling Collection: rice paper scraps, papers, toppers etc.

The backgrounds are a mix of rice papers and papers blended together. I added a few white paint splats as thought it would tie everything together. There was a real "mish mash" of elements which I have cut into to make more collage pieces.

The sentiment I found on one of the toppers and actually thought it could be the name I give these art journal pages. Home is definitely where my family totally understand / get / support / encourage / engage / give feedback for all my crafting adventures and the occasional mis-adventure too.

My "Just for Me" pages are slightly later than I hoped. I had a family get together at the beginning of the month and then the NEC in the middle of the month. I think the mix of the two, plus finding that prep bag, completely inspired these pages.

This was collaging fun at it's very best for me - layer upon layers with different images upon different images. My final finishing touch was to add even more white splats of paint.

If you're new to art journaling, I encourage you to start a "Just for Me" art journal. It's a place where you can let go of all expectations and simply create. You never know what you might create!

I'm loving these times, using whatever I want, how I want and just listening to the odd, random Podcast as I create.
