Shady Designs Bit On The Side card idea

My latest collection of Shady Designs stamps was released on 14th April. The whole collection was called "A Bit On The Side". Today I am sharing a card idea using one of the new stamp sets "Bit On The Side" ...

Today is your day

I adore this sentiment because it can mean so very much to us as individuals or to the person you send your card to 💖 I began by stamping the main focal image from the Bit On The Side stamp set on to a panel of card, (measured to fit a DL card base), and coloured it with my distress watercolour pencils.

Next using my new Boxed In stencil, I added the extra line details around the outside. I did not want to cover the whole background; I am trying to embrace some of the white space which is a goal I have set myself. White space is your friend 😂 With a micron pen, I added my string line to the tag.

Once the background was complete, I edged the panel with a black marker and added to a DL card base. On a piece of card, I stamped the sentiment and lots of different elements I wanted to use to decorate my card front.

I coloured these with my distress water colour pencils and added them to the card front. Some of the pieces have been raised with 3D foam pads and others stuck directly to the card front.

Now my quandary ... does it need anything else? Sequins? Glossy Accents? This is one of my creative downfalls - knowing when to "stop"!

The whole collection came about because I wanted to embrace tags in to our cardmaking but at the same time, the tag shapes had to do lots more. They had to make backgrounds, art journal pieces, mandala designs, pattern build - the list in my head was and is, endless.

Now another new, new thing for me was to create a matching topper & paper kit. All the toppers can be used "as is" for your card making, on art journal pages etc etc but also I wanted them to be a reference guide too eg: take inspiration from the toppers to make your own stamped topper designs or copy the toppers themselves.
