Art journaling with scrapbook paper: a creative way to use your stash
I think we all can get caught up into thinking art journaling must involve stamps and collage elements. I have many beautiful scrapbook papers and wanted to show that they to can be used in our art journals too.
See below for how the page was created. Supplies used can be found at the bottom of this post.
For my pages I wanted to use as many elements I could from the Ciao Bella Paper Enigma Collection and give the design a collaged feel.
I began by spraying through a stencil with antique linen oxide spray starting in the centre and working my way outwards. Next using frayed burlap oxide spray, I sprayed through another stencil but this time keeping the design on right hand page.
Using one of the paper designs from the Engima Paper Pad, I cut our lots of different elements that I thought worked with the wording "keep secrets". One the left page, I have used one of the wonderful feature images and added only a few extra pieces.
On the right page, I layered lots of different elements to create a collage piece which gave the vibe of spying and keeping secrets. The floral pieces were added to both pages to break up some of my layering. These are Tim Holtz idea-ology ephemera pieces.
As a finishing touch, I added a few peacock feathers oxide spray splatters to bring in the bits of blue you see here and there in the different images. I would say that the longest part of making my pages was the cutting out!
Do you have any scrapbook papers gathering a bit of dust? Why not try out art journaling with them.
Thank you so much for your visit today. Until next time, take care,
Lou
