Just for Me art journaling with Tim Holtz Idea-ology

The world of art journaling offers a space for self-expression, mindfulness plus creative exploration. Sometimes, the pressure to create "perfect" artwork can stifle our inner artist. That's where the concept of "Just for Me" art journaling comes in, and if you are like me and adore collage, Tim Holtz's Idea-ology products are the perfect craft items to use.

This is August's "Just For Me" page and it was all about collage!

For me, Tim Holtz's Idea-ology is perfect to use for collage pages as nothing matches but it does! It's all about texture and layering, layering some more and using what "sings to your soul". I've used stencils, stamps, collage papers, lots of ephemera and made/created a tactile background.

My starting point was a mop up piece of card I found in one of my A4 journals. The random mix of colours were my starting point and made it easy for me then to pick Idea-ology pieces that co-ordinated colourise.

The scraps of paper were stuck down in place adding bits of Idea-ology collage paper here and there. Next was all the floral ephemera pieces and the paper dolls. I have used distress embossing glaze on the paper dolls to add pops of colour.

"Just for Me" art journaling is about the journey, not the destination. I let go of any expectations or comparisons and became absorbed in the process of creating, experimenting, and letting the colours lead the way. It's was a wonderful time for "me", my art journal and Tim Holtz's Idea-ology combining together. Sorry if that sounds a wee be trite or cliche.

Remember, "Just for Me" art journaling is about YOU. There are no rules, no expectations, just pure creative freedom. It isn't about creating masterpieces; it's about exploring your creative soul, enjoying the process, revel in the messiness and let your journal become a reflection of you on that day.

As Tim Holtz would say ... "you do YOU".
