A Land of Rising Sun: Displaying Ciao Bella Paper's Beauty

Today, I'm excited to share a unique way to showcase the stunning beauty of Ciao Bella Paper's Land of the Rising Sun collection. Instead of traditional cards, I've created a set of display drawers and a reversed canvas. These projects allow you to admire the intricate details and vibrant colours of this collection from every angle.

List of everything used can be found at the bottom of this post.

The Display Drawers:

I repurposed two small wooden drawer sets and covered them with the beautiful papers from the collection. I added some gold gilding flakes to the edges for a touch of luxury. The drawers are perfect for storing small craft supplies or jewelry.

For this drawer set, I painted first with DecoArt Teal metallic paint on both the inside and outside. Once dry I used the beautiful speciality papers from the Land of the Rising Sun Collection. They have a wonderful metallic, textured feel to them. I decided to use Mod Podge gloss to stick & seal everything.

I began by painting the main drawer unit with DecoArt Black Pearl metallic paint and then covered the unit with a mix of papers cut into smaller pieces. Once dry, I dry brushed with DecoArt  Copper Penny. I liked how the colour looked, so painted the legs and inside the drawers too. Using a cut up foam, I added gilding adhesive and a mix of gold & copper gilding flakes.

The Reversed Canvas:

For the reversed canvas, I used a stretched canvas and painted it with a base colour: DecoArt Copper Penny metallic paint. I then cut out shapes from the patterned paper and adhered them to the canvas in a collage-style arrangement.

I added some gilding flakes for a touch of sparkle and finished the piece with a coat of varnish using Mod Podge gloss. The final finishing touch was adding some paper stamens and paper flowers.

These projects were a fun. They allowed me to experiment with different techniques and materials, and even if I say so myself, the results are better than I expected. I'm thrilled with the results. I hope this inspires you to find creative ways to display to use your favourite paper collections.

Until next time, take care,

Lou
