Looking for new ideas for your Tim Holtz Distress Spritzes? In this blog post, I'm sharing four projects that showcase the versatility and vibrant hues of these fun products. I'll also show you some of my favorite colour combinations that you can try!
I have mixed the distress Spritz colours with the same colour distress inks to create the backgrounds. I then couldn't leave them as backgrounds but had to create finished tags.

Project 1: BOO & Stuff!
Supplies used:
Tags: distress mixed media
For this tag, I randomly spritzed all 3 colours together , drying every now and then, and then adding more!. Once dry I stamped the background using the Framed Frights stamp set - with Versafine Clair Morning Mist. I wanted there to be something "there" but not too jazz hands! Finished with 3 wonderful ghost characters from the Spooky Spirits stamp set.

Project 2: A Beautiful World
Supplies used:
Distress inks: rusty hinge & saltwater taffy
Tags: distress mixed media
Using a mix of Saltwater Taffy &vintage photo with a stencil, I created a quick background. I then stamped the label frames as a background using rusty hinge distress ink. I didn't want a "crisp" background. On a seperate piece of card, I created my ephemera pieces stamping the images from French Garden & Label Frames - in Versafine Clair Acorn & Glamorous - colouring with rusty hinge & saltwater taffy spritz inks. The extra sentiments and numbers are from Tidbits.

Project 3: Fragments of the Soul
Supplies used:
Distress inks:seedless preserves & villainous potion
Tags: distress mixed media
Using prize ribbon & seedless preserve I created my first layer. When dry, I added "splats" of colour using all three colours and again left it to dry naturally. I then added the spider web to the background in multiple places. I created a topper using label frames and one of the scences from Framed Frights on a background similar to my main tag. I layered all the pieces on to my tag and finished by adding extra colour with antique linen. Love how the antique linen gives a shimmery, ghostly vibe!

Project 4: Own Your Dreams
Distress inks: fired brick
Tags: distress mixed media
Versafine Clair Nocturne & Morning Mist
I began by adding a light spritzed layer of fired brick and once dry, added a layer of kitsch flamingo. Using fired brick distress ink, I added some subtle stamping with different stamps from Tidbits. Still with the same stamp set, I switched to Versafine Clair Nocturne to add extra details. On a seperate piece of card, I stamped all my different elements: leaves, berries (from French Garden) with the extra pieces from Tidbits. These were all coloured with crushed olive distress spritz. Using label frames, I created my topper, stamping the main frame with fired brick. The inner flower was stamped with Morning Mist and coloured with kitsch flamingo distress spritz. Final part was to layer all these elements on to my tag.

I am sure there will be lots more combinations to discover and I already have a few more in mind. Next for me is to use them in my art journals and can see some really cool backgrounds happening!
What's your favourite colour combo? Do you have a different suggestion of colours to try out? Would love to hear your ideas.
Until next time, take care,
Lou
