From Scraps to Finished Tags: Turning Leftovers into Cardmaking Details
I often find that after finishing a card or background, I’m left with lots of leftover pieces—small offcuts, stamped scraps, and bits that don’t quite feel like a finished project on their own.
It’s a really easy way to extend what you’ve already made and get more from your creative process without starting from scratch again.
Gather your scraps!
While tidying through some old "demo bags" a wee while ago, rather than bin them, I thought I could make some tags for future projects. I did share how I did this in a reel, which you can watch below.
Once these tags were finished, rather than just "file them" again, I decided to use them straight away and create a card. I began by edging each tag with a black pen to give a subtle edging and to make each stand out when I layered them on to my card.

I added 3 D foam pads to each tag and arranged on the panel. I always do a dry run first and after doing that, decided the design would work better being landscaped. I secured the excess twine to the back of the card - again with 3D foam pads - added more pads and stuck the whole panel to a black card base.
Even the smallest offcuts can become part of a future project when you start seeing them as usable pieces rather than waste.
Many thanks for your visiting today & until next time, take care,
