My first project with Ciao Bella Papers Secret Garden Junk Journal & Ephemra Book had me creating a secret garden double page spread (see the blog post HERE) but for this page I really wanted to step a little outside my comfort zone and go full on layered florals.
Rather than use the papers I thought it would be great to show a different way to use the stickers to create the background - both on the tag and also page too. Further down the page, you will find a reel showing how this page came together.

The Inspiration & The Quote
When cutting out all my ephemera pieces, the quote just shouted at me that it was the perfect "muse" for the inspiration behind my page.
"If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden."
Yes it fits the beautiful floral elements perfectly but also is a reminder that there is beauty not just in front of us but also behind us if we care to look. I think we always assume that looking back can be a negative thing but actually it can be incredibly soothing and reassuring too. Gonna stop now as in waffle reflective mode and that wasn't meant to be the reason for writing this post!
I knew that I wanted the tag to appear as if its blended into the background but if you look closely, you can still see it. I used one of the large sticker sheets to cover the tag and with the bits remaining, cut them in to strips and added randomly to my page.
Next it was all about the flowers and leaves and I have added them in abundance.
TOP TIP TIME ... to make your elements go further, cut them in half and stick to the edges of your projects or tuck them behind others. I show this technique off in my reel (see below). I also added lots of ephemera tags on top of the tag too as thought that added to the layers.

Now what I call the ugly bit or the "ugh" bit. When I finished the page, the main tag was just "hanging" or "flaoting in mid air" and made the whole page seem plonked on. I walked away at this point, made a coffee and after a while came back with fresh eyes. I had cut out a key element and suddenly placing it on the bottom of the tag made everything tie together. Also gave a nod to my previous pages which were all about the "Secret Garden".

Watch the page come to life
Below is a reel I created showing how I created the page and you can see how I used the sticker and added all my layers.
Apologies for there being no music on the reel but if I add that I am discovering that it makes the video too large to embed in to my blog post. If you would like to watch the video with music, there is a version over on my YouTube channel
HERE.

Are you new to journaling? If you are these books from Ciao Bella paper are perfect to get you started. The papers, ephemera, stickers, quotes are all co-ordinated so take away the overwhelm.
Out of curiousity ... okay nosiness ... do use quotes to help inspire your work? I'm starting to do this more and more recently and finding it means I have more of a connection with my pages. Okay that sounds naff written like that but hopefully you know what I mean.
Until next time, take care,
Lou
