Why I Blog: Creativity, Community and Crafting in 2025

Blogging might feel a little old-fashioned in the age of TikTok, Reels, and endless scrolling, but for me, it’s still one of the most powerful ways to share creativity. It’s a place where I can slow down, write in my own voice, and create a space that feels permanent — unlike a social feed that disappears in a day. From papercraft tutorials for beginners to art journaling inspiration and ideas, this blog gives me a platform to explore and share creativity fully.

I’ve been part of the papercraft world for well over a decade, and while my journey has taken many turns, this blog remains my online home—a real constant.

Blogging as My Creative Journal

I see my blog as more than just a gallery of finished projects—it’s my creative diary. Here I can share not just the “what” of my makes, but the “why” and the “how.” Blogging has become my space to sort through ideas, experiment, and reflect on my creative journey. If you want to learn more about my background, what inspires me, and how I got started, you can explore my "All About Me page"

Sometimes my thoughts and ideas swirl around so fast, I need a place to sort them out. Blogging has become that space for me:

I blog to make sense of the creative mess in my head" – quote on a soft, textured background representing creativity and reflection, ideal for papercraft and art journaling audiences.

It’s not about perfection—it’s about giving my ideas room to breathe and evolve. Over the years, blogging has helped me understand my own creative process and articulate what inspires me.

When I look back through old posts, I can see how my style has shifted, how my techniques in stamping, stenciling techniques, art journaling, and mixed media have grown, and even what inspired me at different times. Plus how art journaling inspiration inspires me to create in other ways too. That’s something social media can’t give me in the same way.

Beyond Social Media

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest — they’re brilliant for quick inspiration and connecting with new makers. But social media scrolls past in seconds.

A blog feels different. It’s searchable, bookmarkable, and organised. If you want to find a stamping idea, stencil technique, or mandala pattern project I shared months ago, it’s all here. That’s why I see blogging as a resource, not just another platform.

Do I Have a Niche?

This is the question I get asked a lot (and one I explored in my video “What’s My Niche?). The honest answer: not really!

Yes, I’m a papercrafter, and yes, I lean towards art journaling because it gives me so much freedom to play with stamps, stencils, paints, and mixed media techniques. But my projects often wander into cardmaking, mandala building, and experimenting with products in ways they weren’t originally intended.

Looking at my archive, I can trace my journey through projects, experiments, and discoveries. Every post tells a story of learning and growth:

Each post is a way to look back and see how far I’ve wandered… and learned" – quote on a muted patterned background, reflecting creative growth and mixed media exploration.

I suppose my niche is that I don’t have one — and that’s the joy of it. Creativity, for me, is about exploration, not limitation.
