Playing with Polkadoodles stencils & Izink ink pads

Whilst cleaning up some of my stencils, an idea "popped" in to my head. Stencil cleaning abandoned & stencil playing began ...! Using 2 Polkadoodles stencils & a couple of stamp sets, I began to create my card ...

MY PROJECT
In my head, I wanted to use the feathers & wings stencil not as a background but to create the main card elements.

I coloured each of the feathers with different Izink ink pads, blending with daubers. When I was happy with colours/blending, each were cut out.

Using the same colour ink I used for the feathers, I began creating my background directly on to my card base - I used the Textures Galore clear stamp set from Polkadoodles.

Adding twine, I placed my feathers and stamp sentiments around the twine - Making Faces clear stamp set - but I felt that something was missing. After a quick rummage through my stash, a sudden "ping" & light bub moment  - Funky Alphabet stamps & matching stencil.

I've cut each letter out but I could have kept them together and created a banner/pennant or as a topper. The way the letters hang from the twine gives a floating impression; flying in the wind as it were.

I really enjoyed making my card and it's made me think about the other stencils I have, plus other ways I can use them, not just for adding backgrounds. Do you use stencils? What's your favourite technique?
