Polkadoodles Great Outdoors Critter die sets
I decided to sort through all my dies the other day and find a way of organising them that worked for me. Whilst going through them all, I became distracted by a whole host of Polkadoodles die sets I found in a folder from the Great Outdoors Collection. That was it, I knew I had to stop what I was doing and use them.
In a Facebook live, I showed how to create the characters & then make cards with them. I've now uploaded the live to my YouTube channel, along with a shorter video showing how to assemble Foxy Fun, Beary Cute & 'dorable Dog - links are below.
'Dorable Dog
The 'Dorable Dog Great Outdoors Critter die set is so cool as you can personalise your dog by just changing the colours you use. I decided to put the hair to cover one of his eyes as I thought it made him look a little cheeky.
There are 11 dies in the 'Dorable Dog Great Outdoors Critter die set with the largest die measuring 8.5cm x 7cm. For the background on my card, I have used other Polkadoodles dies sets to create the added decoration:-
- Leaves = Beary Cute Great Outdoors Critter set
- Toadstools = Foxy Fun Great Outdoors Critter set
- Flower pots = Pretty Flower Pots & Planters
- Circle die = Stitched & Pierced Circle layering dies
The card size I have used is 7" x 5" and I did decide to layer up some of the die cuts using 3D foam.
Beary Cute
Now this character, Beary Cute Great Outdoors Critter Set, is one you can really have fun with around the facial features especially. I have doodled mine in using micron pens & a little white gel pen. This is also another cool character than can be changed to suit multiple occasions by having fun with the colour choices you make.
There are 11 dies in the die set with the largest die cut measuring 9cm x 7cm. Again my card is 7" x 5" in size.
For the background on my card, I have used other Polkadoodles dies sets & stencils to create the added decoration:-
- Leaves = Beary Cute Great Outdoors Critter set
- Toadstools = Foxy Fun Great Outdoors Critter set
- Heart Flourish = Heart Flourish die.
- Oval die = Posydoodles Oval layering die set
- Stencils = Tropical Foliage, Great Outdoors & Tweet Branches stencils
Foxy Fun
Previously I have used the matching stamp set Nuts About You Woodland Fox stamp set on a few projects but not the Foxy Fun Great outdoors Critters die set - why? I really don't know. Have to say, Foxy Fun was super quick to create & in the same die set, there are some fab toadstool dies too.
I have used the beautiful Autumn 6" x 6" paper collection as both my background & also to die cut a selection of the leaves - from Beary Cute Great Outdoors Critters die set. My card size is A6. To create the look of bushes behind Foxy Fun, I have used Ghosties & Bat Candy die sets.
There are 7 dies in this collection with the largest die cut measuring 7.5cm x 7cm
Sentiments ...
I've been asked on a few occasions why I don't add sentiments to my finished cards. See I'm a wee devil when it comes to sentiments & often do not add them to my projects until I have "lived" with my cards for a while. The sentiment I initially thought of using, might not be the one I use in the end.
Also, gotta say, that I am a real sentiment stamp & digi stamp collector. A true sucka for in fact (lol). I use a mix of stamped sentiments & digi sentiments in my crafting and Polkadoodles have loads - I mean loads - of different ones on offer.
YouTube videos
I've uploaded the Facebook live to my YouTube channel and am becoming slowly braver in doing so. I don't why I hold off from uploading the lives but I just seem to ...!
You can also see a shorter 5 minute video where I just share how to construct the die cut pieces to create the wonderful critters. Click on thumbnail below ...
Well I think I've distracted myself longer than anticipated & now off to finish cataloging my dies. My hurdle is, should they be in company & then theme or just theme? Any advice?
Take care & see you soon,
xxx
