Using rice paper in mixed media projects: adds depth, texture & beauty
One of the joys of rice paper for me is that is can be used to decorate anything! From upcycling, art journal pages, card making, mixed media projects for starters. I have used the Nocturnal Peacock rice paper from Ciao Bella Paper to make a mixed media canvas.

Canvas: Flowers are the music on the earth ...
I am working on a pre-primed A4 canvas and began by adding layers of texture paste through Ciao Bella Paper Dream On stencil. Once this was dry, I used rusty hinge oxide spray + water, to add colour.
When these layers were dry, I added more texture using crackle paste through Ciao Bella Paper Infinite Desire stencil. Additional colour was added using Tarnished Brass spray stain.
Next, I added the beautiful peacock image with mod podge matt. To balance out my canvas, I placed other rice paper elements on to my canvas: flower (bottom right) & script text (at the top).
As a finishing touch, I have added lots of flower embellishments to the peacocks plumage using gel medium. I have tried to keep to similar colours. I added a dry brush layer of DecoArt White Birch paint (satin finish) plus a few splats of Tarnished Brass stain.
Sentiment is one of my Shady Designs sentiments and I thought it worked beautifully with the images on my canvas.
