Texture Time! Bibi Cameron Intense Liquid Colors & Textured Backgrounds (project #2)

Today I'm excited to share a fun technique using the brand new Bibi Cameron Intense Liquid Colors! These vibrant paints are absolutely gorgeous on their own, but I wanted to see how they would interact with texture paste.

Working alongside Contract Crafts, Bibi has launched a new line of paints called "Intense Liquid Colors & Sparkle Bases," and let me tell you, these babies are seriously impressive. Now, you might be thinking, "Wait, aren't they called inks?" Well, they kind of are, but they also kind of aren't. They have that beautiful, fluid ink-like quality, but they pack a serious pigment punch that's more akin to a high-quality artist's paint.

I've been playing around with the three new sets and I've discovered something truly magical: I've created my own bespoke coloured texture paste!

How I Did It:

Instead of just using the traditional white texture paste and adding colour, I simply mixed in the Intense Liquid Colors directly into the paste. The colours blended beautifully and evenly, creating custom-coloured pastes. I experimented with different colour combinations and found that a little goes a long way.

I also created a short reel showing off the steps above if that easier to follow. Click HERE or on thumbnail below.

I have used a white opaque texture paste which gives more of a pastel colour range but if you wanted the same colour intensity from the Intense Liquid Colors, use either a gel medium or a translucent texture paste. I have a project coming showing off the latter.

Now to try the same technique with the Sparkle Bases to see what results can be achieved and also whether I will get a pearlised texture paste ... watch this space!

Using the backgrounds in card making:

I think most of us think that if we use texture pastes or any mixed media style products, we should use the backgrounds in an art journals or on a mixed media piece BUT these backgrounds are fabulous to create textural backgrounds for our handmade cards.

A6 card:

For this card, I cut the panel in to different strips which were mounted on card. Some were raised up with 3D foam pads & other stuck down. These were added to my card base. Next I added my stamped and coloured images, (also coloured with Intense Liquid Colors), to the card front.

Beyond Texture Paste:

Of course, the Intense Liquid Colors are incredibly versatile. In my previous blog post and YouTube video, I showed you how to use them with blending sponges to create stunning handmade cards.
