Tonic Studios Tiny Treasured Tome made in to a three tiered box

Today, Tonic Studios has a "One Day Wonder" being released on Create & Craft TV called "Tiny Treasured Tome" and all the finished project does look smaller than previous Tonic Studios launches, believe me when I say, don't underestimate what it can do ...!

I've created a three tiered decorative storage box wit a hinged lid to keep all your precious keepsakes inside. This would be a fab idea if you were giving jewellery as a present as you could put ear-rings in one, bracelet in another & necklace in the final portion ...

I began by cutting our 3 of the boxes and their covers. One of the outside covers measures 4.5cm x 7.5cm and I needed to create a base for them to rest upon. I have cut a piece of olive card measuring 5.5cm x length of A4. This way I can leave a border around the outside and also allows me to have a little "wiggle room" with the length. Add each of the covers only to this strip ensuring that they butt up closely to each other. You may have to cut away any excess.

As you now have 3 lids "flapping in the wind" we need to join them together in order that they work "as one" and also, to add strength. Firstly, cut a piece of olive card measuring 1.8cm x 22cm. If you prefer to use whole numbers, 2cm width is fine but you will not have as much white border showing. Add this to the lid on the inside. Next cut a further strip of olive card measuring 4.2cm x 22cm, adding to the inside again, on the top panels.

For the decoration on the inside, there is a wonderful die which has 2 holes at either end. These are there to add ribbon, twine etc, to close your book/tome. I die cut 3 of these panels, threading with Craft Perfect Fuchsia twine and then added to the inside of the covers. Ensure that you have enough twine hanging over on each end as you will need this later ...

Now add your box parts roughly lining up with the original lid placement but place the box parts as close to the back crease as possible. Try not to cover the crease/hinge otherwise your lid will not close properly. Decorate the insides and outer edges but only the ones that will be seen - why decorate more than you need to ....

On the outside, I have used the same decorative die, again threaded twine and added to the lid but this time with 3D foam, again leaving enough twine at either end. These panels have in turn been decorated adding a sentiment in to the middle one. Now with the excess twine, tie these together to create bows and you have even more decoration on your box with adding bulk.

This was a really fun project and now I can see an idea for 4 boxes in a square, so watch this space. What are you going to make first when you receive your dies? Do please share.

This is lovely, I bought my dies on C&C yesterday, mainly to use as little earring boxes, but I love what you’ve done for an entire jewellery set. Thank you so much for the detailed instructions, it’s very kind of you & is much appreciated
